Day 21, Tuesday, August 7, 2012, Whitefish, MT to Rollins, MT, on Flathead Lake.

Day 21, Tuesday, August 7, 2012, Whitefish, MT to Rollins, MT, on Flathead Lake.

We rolled out of Whitefish at 9 AM down the 93 freeway. After about 5 miles we got to turn off on a side road paralleling 93. Nice road but since we were feeling our way we soon got semi-lost. The road name was supposed to change, but not to the name it did change to. We wandered a bit. Consulted with a local who set us on to a different road to get us into Kalispell.

In Kalispell we stopped at Montana Wheat and Bread for sustenance. A group of cyclists with a tour group out of Bend, OR came in for a bite to eat. Apparently there were 300 of them camped outside of Kalispell. They started in Plains, MT and had already been around Flathead Lake. Went past Wayne Newton's place, they did. Fellow who was talking with us did not know they went past Wayne Newton's until he reached the next scheduled rest and feed place for his tour group. They will be heading north to Eureka and ending in Plains this coming Saturday.

Our ride out of Kalispell was very pleasant as they have a bike path paralleling the 93 to Somers, MT. After Somers the bike path was hit and miss until we got to Lakeside and had to ride the shoulder all the way to "This Is It" road to get to Bill and Kathy's.

Flathead Lake from a viewpoint looking north.

Flathead Lake center, looking directly across from the view point.

Flathead Lake looking south from the viewpoint on the way to Bill and Kathy's. At this view point we were on the same side of the lake as Bill and Kathy.

Mission Mountains and a glacier peak behind, but no one can recall the name.

Geno in the background and Herb in the foreground preparing to leave the view point.

Candid picture of Kathy preparing to take a picture of the magnificent 7 upon our arrival.

Jay and Felicia in the sun, Caroline and Mike in the shade and all on the dock.

Jay and Felicia in the foreground and off the point of land on the left are two islands. The one closest to the point of land is Shelter Island, which you can have for 78 million complete with mansion and docks of all kinds. The island further right is Cedar Island and as far as I know is not for sale and has no mansion(s) on it. John Lithgow lives around the point of land if you want to say hello. Phil Jackson is further up the lake. Paddle boards are in the foreground.

Flathead Lake looking south from the dock. Mission Mountains in the background. Neighbors dock on the far right.

Left to right, Geno, Bob and Bill. Sister Caroline's cabin/house in the background. Bill and Kathy's cabin/house barely visible on the right.

The gang of 7 and their gracious hosts gather at the lake side to laugh and tell stories and laugh and eat a bit.

Same as above only in reverse (sort of).

We are here for three nights and two days, tonight being the first night.
